Η τουρκική αστυνομία χρησιμοποίησε δακρυγόνα το βράδυ της Κυριακής για να διαλύσει πολλές χιλιάδες διαδηλωτές οι οποίοι είχαν συγκεντρωθεί έξω από το γραφείο του πρωθυπουργού της Τουρκίας Ρετζέπ Ταγίπ Ερντογάν στην Κωνσταντινούπολη.

Όπως ανέφερε φωτορεπόρτερ του Γαλλικού Πρακτορείου ο οποίος βρισκόταν στο σημείο, σημειώθηκαν συγκρούσεις μεταξύ αστυνομικών και διαδηλωτών στο σημείο, το οποίο ωστόσο απέχει αρκετά χιλιόμετρα από την πλατεία Ταξίμ.

Εκτεταμένη χρήση χημικών προκειμένου να διαλύσει τους διαδηλωτές έκανε η αστυνομία και στην Άγκυρα, καθώς συνεχίζονται και στην πρωτεύουσα, για τρίτη ημέρα, οι αντικυβερνητικές διαδηλώσεις.

Δεν είναι η πρώτη φορά που υπήρξε διαφωνία μεταξύ των τριών πολιτικών αρχηγών, ανέφερε ο πρόεδρος του ΠΑΣΟΚ σε συνέντευξή του στη ΝΕΤ απαντώντας σε παρατήρηση ότι για πρώτη φορά υπήρξε διαφωνία, αυτή για το αντιρατσιστικό νομοσχέδιο.

«Δεν είναι η πρώτη διαφωνία, έχουμε πολλές διαφορετικές ταυτότητες με την ΝΔ, εμείς συνεργαζόμαστε και διαφωνούμε σε πάρα πολλά θέματα αλλά καταφέραμε να βρούμε λύσεις. Με έχει εκπλήξει η στάση της ΝΔ».

Μίλησε δε, με δραματικούς τόνους για το φαινόμενο της Χρυσής Αυγής.

Ο πρόεδρος του ΠΑΣΟΚ επανέλαβε ότι θα ζητήσει να συζητηθεί η δική του πρόταση νόμου εκφράζοντας την πεποίθηση ότι αυτή θα ψηφιστεί από ΔΗΜΑΡ και ΣΥΡΙΖΑ, ενδεχομένως και από άλλα κόμματα της αντιπολίτευσης. Και ζήτησε από τη ΝΔ να σκεφτεί τι θα γίνει αν η πρόταση αυτή καταψηφιστεί από τη Βουλή. Θα είναι, είπε, ιστορικό λάθος και θα σταλεί λάθος μήνυμα στο λαό, αλλά και στους εταίρους. Θα είναι, πρόσθεσε ένας θρίαμβος της Χρυσής Αυγής η οποία γελά σε βάρος μας που δεν μπορούμε να βρούμε τρόπο να συνεννοηθούμε.

Ο κ. Βενιζέλος απέδωσε τη στάση της ΝΔ στην επιθυμία της να έχει επικοινωνία με ένα ακροατήριο που κινείται στις παρυφές μεταξύ ΝΔ και Χρυσής Αυγής ή ΝΔ και ΑΝΕΛ.

Είπε επίσης: «Πιστεύω ότι το δίπολο μνημόνιο – αντιμνημόνιο είναι πλαστό κενό. Θέλουμε να φύγουμε από το στενό πλαίσιο του μνημονίου αλλά να είμαστε εξασφαλισμένοι. Όσα προβλήματα έχει το ευρωπαϊκό γήπεδο, δεν υπάρχει καλύτερο αυτή τη στιγμή στον κόσμο.

Ο ΣΥΡΙΖΑ κρύβει την βαθιά του αντίφαση στην ηγεσία του, υπάρχει μια πτέρυγα αντιευρωπαϊκή και μια άλλη που δηλώνει φιλοευρωπαϊκή. Έχουμε και κάτι ακόμη χειρότερο, να κρύβεται αυτό το ετερόκλητο σχήμα ΣΥΡΙΖΑ και Ανεξάρτητων Ελλήνων. Έχω απαντήσει εμπράκτως, το ΠΑΣΟΚ έχει απαντήσει εμπράκτως».

Εξέφρασε τέλος, τη δυσαρέσκειά του για την άνιση κατανομή βάρους και οφέλους μεταξύ των κυβερνητικών εταίρων και πρόσθεσε πως ο ίδιος είναι εθνικά υπεύθυνος αλλά όχι αφελής.

Σχετικά με τη συμμετοχή του ΠΑΣΟΚ στην κυβέρνηση με πολιτικά στελέχη είπε ότι μετά την ήττα δεν ήθελε να εμφανιστεί ότι υπάρχει μια ομάδα που έχει στραμμένα τα βλέμματά της μόνο στην εξουσία. Και για τη δική του συμμετοχή είπε ότι αν και στην Ευρώπη είναι σύνηθες να συμμετέχουν οι αρχηγοί των συνεργαζόμενων κομμάτων, δεν θα ήταν σωστό από τη μία να συμμετέχει ως αντιπρόεδρος στην κυβέρνηση και από την άλλη να διαπραγματεύεται με τον πρωθυπουργό, όπως στην περίπτωση του αντιρατσιστικού.

Η βράβευση πραγματοποιήθηκε σε πολυτελές ξενοδοχείο του Δήμου Πλατανιά, στα Χανιά, ενώ ο Αναπληρωτής Διευθυντής της “TUI Nord”, εξέφρασε την ικανοποίησή του αλλά και την αισιοδοξία του για διαρκώς αυξανόμενα μεγέθη.

Όπως τόνισε επίσης ο Αερολιμενάρχης Χανίων Σταύρος Καστρινάκης, τα μηνύματα από τις πρώτες κιόλας αφίξεις είναι ενθαρρυντικά, καθώς παρουσιάζουν αύξηση σε σχέση με τους αντίστοιχους μήνες πέρυσι.

Τα χαμόγελα δεν έλειψαν και για τα θετικά αποτελέσματα του τουριστικού προϊόντος του τουριστικού κέντρου του Νομού Χανίων, που φιλοξενεί χιλιάδες επισκέπτες κάθε χρόνο το καλοκαίρι.

The Acropolis is still sweeping international awards and we are proud!

The Acropolis of Athens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, came in second place for its architectural and historical significance and for its outstanding universal value on CNN’s list of 20 of the world’s most beautiful World Heritage Sites.

The new addition to the Athenian landmark, the Acropolis Museum, ranked 3rd on a list of the best 50 museums in the world after the Smisthsonian Museum in Washington and the British Museum in London.

Race to preserve the world’s oldest submerged town – Part 2

Just off the southern coast of mainland Greece lies the oldest submerged city in the world. It thrived for 2,000 years during the time that saw the birth of western civilisation.

An international team of experts is using cutting-edge technology to prise age-old secrets from the complex of streets and stone buildings that lie less than five metres below the surface of the ocean.

State-of-the-art CGI helps to raise the city from the seabed, revealing for the first time in 3,500 years how Pavlopetri would once have looked and operated.

Underwater archaeologist Dr Jon Henderson is leading the project in collaboration with Nic Flemming, the man whose hunch led to the discovery of Pavlopetri in 1967, and a team from the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.

Working alongside the archaeologists are a team from the Australian Centre for Field Robotics.

The teams scour the ocean floor, looking for artefacts.

The site is littered with thousands of fragments, each providing valuable clues about the everyday lives of the people of Pavlopetri.

From the buildings to the trade goods to the everyday tableware, each artefact provides a window into a forgotten world.

Together these precious relics provide us with a window to a time when Pavlopetri would have been at its height, showing us what life was like in this distant age and revealing how this city marks the start of western civilisation.

Greek museums take part in International Museum Day festivities
Museums around the country participate in this year’s festivities to mark the International Museum Day 2013.

There will be lectures, exhibitions, workshops, live music and guided tours, but most importantly dozens of museums will remain open until late on Saturday and offer free admission to their premises.

On Saturday museums around the country will offer free admission and extended opening hours as Greece celebrates the International Museum Day 2013.

There will be lectures, exhibitions, workshops, live music and guided tours in a number of museums across Greece, including the Acropolis Museum, the Benaki Museum and the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki.
This year’s theme is “Museums (Memory + Creativity) = Social Change” and the Archaeological Museum of Delphi has been selected as Greece’s honoured museum.

In recent years about 30,000 museums have participated in the International Museum Day, organising activities in more than 120 countries.

Traditionally, International Museum Day is celebrated on May 18, but festivities can last up to a whole week.

Below is a selection of museums that organise special events for the day.
Archaeological Museum of Delphi
The Greek section of the International Council of Museums has decided to declare the Museum of Delphi as honoree for 2013 for its contribution to the preservation and promotion of ancient Greek culture. On the day there will be conferences, workshops for adults, free guided tours, educational activities and a music concert.

Acropolis Museum, Athens
The Acropolis Museum every year creates a commemorative medal for the occasion. This year the medal depicts a fighting rooster, the competitive prototype for athletes and fighters in ancient Athens. The museum will be open from 8am until midnight with free admission. Museum archaeologists will present various programmes for children and adults related to the rooster. There will be 20-minute-long gallery talks in Greek, English and French throughout the day. Participation is limited to 25 visitors per session on a first-in first-served basis. Gallery talks in English: 10.30am, 12.30pm, 6.30pm. Gallery talks in French: 4pm. At 9pm the Orchestra of the Centre of Arts and Culture of Dion will perform in the museum’s entrance courtyard.

Benaki Museum, Athens
Ten live workshops will be scattered in the museum galleries, where artists inspired by the exhibits will reveal step by step the secrets of their art. Three educational workshops for kids over 5 will teach them art techniques, how to make jewellery and how to use their imagination in a creative way.

Navarino Natura Hall, Messinia
The Natura Hall will organise free guided tours open to all guests as well as a musical concert entitled “Songs about Nature”. The Environmental Group of the Musical School of Kalamata will perform songs about the environment of the area linked to the museum’s exhibits. There will also be a special educational activity entitled “I know and I promote the nature and history of Messinia”, which will take place in the museum with a group of local young disabled people in order to conclude this academic year’s educational programmes for schools.
Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki
The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, on the occasion of the International Museum Day 2013 decided to share, using Facebook, its own memories of everyday life and history. It has invited the public to share their memories and codify their experience through objects or places that are part of their precious memories (photos, stories, testimonies, poems, videos, etc.). All these memories will be the core of an online virtual exhibition. There will also be two free guided tours at the exhibition “Trafficking of antiquities: stop it”.

Την έκτη θέση κατέκτησε στον 58ο διαγωνισμό τραγουδιού της Eurovision, η Ελλάδα η οποία εκπροσωπήθηκε από τον Αγάθωνα Ιακωβίδη και τους Koza Mostra με το τραγούδι Alcohol is free.

Στο διαγωνισμό που διεξήχθη στο Μάλμε της Σουηδίας, η Ελλάδα συγκέντρωσε συνολικά 152 βαθμούς, πραγματοποιώντας μία πολύ καλή εμφάνιση και ψηφίστηκε από 26 χώρες σε σύνολο 39.

Συγκεκριμένα βαθμούς στην ελληνική συμμετοχή χάρισαν οι Κύπρος, Σαν Μαρίνο, Αλβανία, Ολλανδία, Αυστρία, Αγγλία, Ισραήλ, Ουγγαρία, Ρουμανία, Αζερμπαϊτζάν, Νορβηγία, Αρμενία, Ιταλία, Φινλανδία, Λευκορωσία, Λετονία, Βουλγαρία, Βέλγιο, Ρωσία, Μάλτα, Γερμανία, Δανία, Μαυροβούνιο, Π.Γ.Δ.Μ, Κροατία, και η Ελβετία. Τα 12αρια έδωσαν στο «Alcohol is free» το Σαν Μαρίνο και η Κύπρος.

Πρώτη αναδείχθηκε -επιβεβαιώνοντας τα προγνωστικά- η Δανία με το τραγούδι «Only Teardrops» που ερμήνευσε η 20χρονη «ξυπόλητη» Έμιλι ντε Φόρεστ, συγκεντρώνοντας 281 βαθμούς.

Ελληνικό χρώμα είχε, όμως, και η δεύτερη θέση στον διαγωνισμό, την οποία κατέλαβε το Αζερμπαϊτζάν, με το τραγούδι «Hold me», καθώς τη σύνθεση υπέγραψε ο Δημήτρης Κοντόπουλος, ενώ την καλλιτεχνική επιμέλεια είχε αναλάβει ο Φωκάς Ευαγγελινός. Το ελληνικό 12άρι φέτος πήγε στο Αζερμπαϊτζάν, καθώς η Κύπρος (στην οποία δίνεται παραδοσιακά) δεν κατόρθωσε να περάσει στον τελικό.

Στην τρίτη θέση πλαισιώθηκε η Ουκρανία, ενώ την τέταρτη και την πέμπτη κατέκτησαν η Νορβηγία και η Ρωσία αντιστοίχως.

Στον τελικό ψήφισαν όλες οι χώρες που συμμετείχαν στο διαγωνισμό της Eurovision, ανεξάρτητα από το αν είχαν προκριθεί ή όχι, ενώ οι τηλεθεατές δεν μπορούσαν να ψηφίσουν τη συμμετοχή της χώρας τους.
